Goel Glass manufactures high-precision Borosilicate Glass 3.3 Weight Operated Pressure Relief Valves (WPRV) engineered to safeguard glass reactors, distillation assemblies, and process vessels against catastrophic overpressure events. Overpressurization in chemical process systems can result from rapid exothermic thermal runaways, unintended gas generation, boiling surges, cooling failure, or downstream blockages. The WPRV provides fail-safe, autonomous mechanical pressure relief without requiring electrical or pneumatic actuation.
Constructed from thermal-shock resistant Borosilicate 3.3 glass and pure virgin PTFE, the valve features a calibrated dead-weight disc sealing mechanism isolated by a flexible PTFE bellows. When internal vessel pressure exceeds the predetermined set pressure, the upward pneumatic force overcomes the calibrated gravitational counterweight, lifting the valve plug to safely vent excess vapors or gases until normal safe operating pressure is re-established.
The valve must be installed with the spindle in an upright vertical orientation with adequate structural support. Because the wetted flow path is exclusively Borosilicate 3.3 and virgin PTFE, the valve offers complete immunity against aggressive acids, halogens, organic solvents, and pharmaceutical media up to a maximum continuous operating temperature of 150°C.

Direct weight-loaded mechanism operates purely by gravity—guaranteeing instantaneous overpressure relief independent of power, air supply, or electronics.
All wetted components are constructed strictly from Schott Duran® / Borosilicate 3.3 glass and virgin PTFE—immune to aggressive mineral acids, halogens, and organic solvents (see Technical Information for caustic alkali limits).
Multi-convolution virgin PTFE bellows ensures zero fugitive emissions and prevents atmospheric moisture from entering the valve stem mechanism.
Transparent glass body enables immediate visual confirmation of valve lift, vapor release, condensate collection, or seal integrity during operation.
Installed on reactor head nozzles to prevent accidental overpressure from runaway exotherms or rapid gas evolution.
High-purity fine chemical synthesis where metal relief valves would contaminate media with corrosive metal ions.
Protecting column reboilers and vapor lines against unexpected vapor surges and cooling water failure on overhead condensers.
Venting thermal expansion pressure in glass storage tanks and bulk chemical delivery loops handling fuming acids.
